Top of the World In Dubai

May 08, 2017
Dubai is cheap and short flight away from Bahrain. In under an hour, you can be somewhere people only dream about visiting! It is also hot most of the year and therefore most activities are indoors in the malls. You can do almost anything in a mall there, including skiing! It was still quite hot in October when we visited so we spent most of the time indoors, or at the pool at the resort we stayed at.

Ask our son his favorite thing about Dubai and he will quickly tell you all about going to the top of the tallest building in the world!

For those interested for more info about the Burq Khalifa:

At over 828 metres (2,716.5 feet) and more than 160 stories, Burj Khalifa holds the following records: Tallest building in the world, Tallest free-standing structure in the world, Highest number of stories in the world, Highest occupied floor in the world, Highest outdoor observation deck in the world, Elevator with the longest travel distance in the world, Tallest service elevator in the world.

To sum it up, it's really freaking tall and we got to go to the top! Your ears pop multiple times in the elevators which is a little crazy. If you've followed our travels on Facebook over the years, you've probably noticed one of my favorite things to do is visit the tallest buildings in each city we visit. I love the views and each city is so unique.

We visited the Aquarium and Underwater Zoo. Now that we travel with kids, aquariums are something we tend to do in almost every city we visit. They never get old and kids love them. Dubai did not disappoint. Next, we had high-tea which was tasty and a fun experience. When it's not hot, and you aren't traveling with a infant, there is a variety of other options such as dune bashing and camel riding but for this trip, we kept it low-key.

Poorly guided by others, we headed to the airport but decided to use the public transit. The stop we were told to get off on was across the highway from the airport but you could not walk or cross the busy roadway. After about 30 minutes we managed to flag down a taxi and cram in. If you ever visit Dubai, save yourself the trouble and take a cheap taxi!
