& Then we headed West!
Like they say all good things have to come to a end, and after two months in Arizona, that went by WAY too fast it was time for us to wrap up our time in the U.S and head west. Before we headed off to Japan our last stop was California.
For those keeping track, we have officially driven from one coast to the other, our car has seen 7,800 miles in the last 2 months (all driven by N) and R has seen 11 states and 2 countries in his 7 months of life. My grandpa jokes when we finally get settled, R isn't going to know what to do with himself not being in the car, living in a hotel or on the go all the time. We are lucky he is such a good traveler, being a Navy brat, his life will be full of all kinds of fun travels and adventures.
Our time in California was busy as usual for us. Our first stop was Sea World in San Diego, where R had a blast. We fell in love with San Diego (but not the traffic) which was bittersweet for us since that was where we were supposed to be stationed. There is always next time though!
Next, we were off to Laguna Beach for our annual family vacation with N's mother, step-dad, step-siblings, brother, sister in law and his niece and nephew. We always stay at the same hotel on the beach, have a cook out almost every night and enjoy the beautiful sunset over the beach. The view is gorgeous. This year it was overcast in the evening so we didn't get our usual sun set pictures. After 4 days at the beach, we said our goodbye's to family and headed back down to San Diego to drop our car off in storage for the next 3 years. We made a pit stop for dinner and frozen yogurt in La Jolla Beach which was gorgeous. R stuck his feet in the pacific ocean for the first time! He loves water of all kinds.
We arrived in Japan, July 18th and a post on that will be up soon!
Arizona/Mexico border. We had no idea there was a real wall there. |
